REVIEW. BMW i PURE IMPULSE DAY AND SCENIC DRIVE 2018.
A weekend of summer weather, a picturesque scenic drive to a lakeside venue, top-class entertainment, and exclusive insights combined in a fantastic event that drew enthusiastic reviews from BMW i Pure Impulse members.
The event began at the BMW Museum with a guided after-hours tour of the “BMW i – Visionary Mobility” exhibition. After a welcome drink, the 104 guests from across Europe and the US enjoyed an exciting exhibition about the BMW i brand and electric mobility topics in general.
Bavarie Brasserie within BMW Welt was the next stop. Guests could take a trip down memory lane with the most striking BMW i Pure Impulse event pictures from the past few months on display. Isabel Theissen from Product Management BMW i warmly welcomed the members – many of whom had followed the “funky accessories” dress code – before the superb BBQ buffet was opened, with dinner lasting into the night.
The next morning started bright and early with the handover of the road book and a briefing on the different routes on offer: one with more motorway, one with more rural roads, and both with wonderful views of the Bavarian countryside. The return legs also integrated a special stop at the Buchheim Museum on Lake Starnberg, which some of the guests visited using their free admission voucher.
With the BMW i Pure Impulse members setting off in their own cars – or in a BMW i8 Coupé or BMW i8 Roadster for those who could not come in their own vehicle – it was a spectacular sight of BMW i8 owners heading out towards beautiful Lake Starnberg, south of Munich.
The lunchtime destination was La Villa, where guests could enjoy a lovely culinary offering as well as the stunning lakeside scenery. Two types of boat ride were available for those who wanted to spend more time on the glittering water – either a vintage electric-powered boat provided by La Villa or a hybrid-powered boat provided by cooperation partner Torqeedo, who use BMW technology.
After returning to the hotel and enjoying some free time, guests headed to the upcoming east-central area of Werksviertel and the new and exciting location of München Hoch 5 for a spectacular evening, which began with an aperitif, finger food and mingling outside on the two-level terrace.
Between courses, guests enjoyed presentations from top BMW representatives: a welcome from Isabel Theissen; a speech from Rainer Rump, Head of the BMW i Subline, on BMW i developments and future trends; and a special surprise with Piera Kaempf, Product Manager of the BMW 8 Series. During a spectacular reveal show, an atmosphere of suspense was created with lighting effects, surround sound and dark drapes being removed to unveil the BMW M850i, an exciting new model.
After the reveal, dessert was served on the terrace and in the bar area, before the evening transitioned to the dance floor, where the BMW i Pure Impulse members partied until late in the night before being shuttled back to their hotel. As a farewell gift, all guests received a specially designed gingerbread heart.
As the weekend drew to a close on Sunday, BMW i8 owners had another chance to take a test drive with BMW i3s and BMW i8 Roadsters available – they had also been on offer at the start of the weekend – and supported by an instructor/product genius. The weather was again perfect for a drive, underlining the success of the event, from which the guests departed having made wonderful memories and new friends.
