ASIA. SHANGHAI, CHINA.
SHANGHAI WORLD EXPO AND MUSEUMS TOUR.
When the World Expo came to Shanghai in 2010, the city gained its status as the “next great world city”. This gigantic project changed a large part of the city’s face and has since been integrated into Shanghai’s new urban development project.
On this tour, you will become familiar with the different aspects including architecture, modern art and design. The World Expo Museum will be the first stop to understand the World Fair’s importance to Shanghai.
While most of the former pavilions were planned for temporary use only, some have remained. The Power Station of Art is one of them. Once a power plant, it was used as the “Future Pavilion” during the expo and is now the state-owned museum of contemporary art hosting numerous exhibitions including the Shanghai Biennale. You’ll enjoy the view across the Huangpu River towards Pudong with its iconic China Art Museum, you’ll get to see the West Bund, a newly developed strip of several art museums and hotspot for galleries.
Then, explore the West Bund area with its top-notch locations for contemporary art: the Yuz Museum, SCOP and TANK. A great way to get to know today’s art scene.
