ASIA. RAJASTHAN, INDIA.
Where once tigers were hunted, they now find safe harbour. And where once the hunters slept, now travellers find sanctuary, too. Situated in a walled compound formerly used by the Maharajah of Alwar for tiger-hunting excursions, Amanbagh is a retreat from the harried city of Jaipur, a modern Mughal palace near Sariska National Park tiger reserve. Tranquility is easily found in the spa or by the main pool (perfectly heated and cooled according to the season), though nothing beats a meditation session at the ruins of the ancient city Bhangarh.
