ASIA. GALLE, SRI LANKA.
Guests at Amangalla are in good company. What was originally built in 1684 to house the Dutch governor and his posse later became the Oriental Hotel – Sri Lanka’s first haute hotel that played host to international VIPs for over a century. The inn, located within the walls of UNESCO-protected Galle Fort, retains its colonial charm with antique furnishings and Burma teak flooring across the various bedrooms, chambers and suites. Perhaps not so historic is the Baths Spa, but what this wellness complex lacks in authenticity, it more than makes up for in indulgence.
