SILENA, THE SOULFUL HOTEL.
The 1000-volume reading collection at the SILENA hotel is one of many ways guests can relax at this establishment, just steps from the lift to the Gitschberg Jochtal ski area. But it also offers hints into the inspiration behind the hotel: among the many titles is a collection from Asia and another on South Tyrol. And while SILENA is undeniably rooted in local traditions – brother-and-sister team Simon and Magdalena Mair established this modern, design escape in the same spot where the family’s original Moarhof farmhouse and small hotel stood – it has Asian touches sprinkled through the wellness products, cuisine, chai lounge and feng shui-inspired design. Nevertheless, it is hard to escape the Alpine beauty: the natural interiors (including wood that came from the old Moarhof in ‘Suite Irene’), the large roof windows onto the sky, or simply the setting at 1,354 metres above sea level from which guests can enjoy the equally relaxing, but more active, pursuits of yoga, hiking or skiing.
