For guests from Austria, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland and the UK, an exciting day of driving and practicing new maneuvers with a selection of BMW M models and the BMW i8, awaited at the top-class BMW and MINI Driving Academy in Maisach.

Having enjoyed an excellent welcome dinner the previous evening, mingling with fellow BMW i Pure Impulse members at the chic Fürstenfelder Hotel, the attendees headed to the driving facility bright and early. Here they received a welcome from BMW’s Dr. Andreas Aumann, Vice President Product Management BMW i.

The morning activities highlighted the very high level of instruction that the members received. They began with a theoretical session on driving dynamics before going out on track in BMW M2 and M4 vehicles and conducting a session on car handling in practice, which included a timed course. The members had time to relax and mingle over a delicious lunch and then returned to the track to practice driving excellence with the M models and the BMW i8 in the afternoon session.

The highlights of the afternoon included drifting exercises, on-track pace car laps and the race taxi laps with an official BMW i8 Formula E safety car and BMW works driver Alexander Sims behind the wheel. The celebrated racing driver joined the attendees for over half the day, and as well as driving the safety car, he mingled with them, answering their questions, taking pictures and giving autographs. It was a personal highlight of a thrilling and unforgettable day.
