LAKE DISTRICT, ENGLAND.

This June 60 BMW i Pure Impulse members met up with their own BMW i8s at the Langdale Hotel & Spa in the heart of England’s Lake District. Before the event even started, all of the 30 BMW i8s together in the hotel car park were already a big talking point.

On the first evening, dinner was served in Stove Restaurant, Langdale’s brand new restaurant. Guests were joined for a welcome drink and dinner by Carl Sanderson, General Manager, BMW i and Mobility Services, BMW UK. Using a tailor made road book guests were briefed on the next day’s drive. To remind the guests of the sheep being a potential hazard in the roads, a cuddly plush, locally made sheep awaited them in their rooms. Not only did the guests get a royal treatment: the cars were cleaned to look fabulous for the next day.

The following morning the guests set off on the first leg of the scenic drive. The first part took them north towards the town of Keswick and then lakeside along to the world famous Honister Pass. The jaw-dropping beauty of the pass certainly did not disappoint. The guests, and not to mention the passers-by, will forever cherish the memory of 30 BMW i8s driving over the pass.

After numerous photo stops, and even a quick stop for a mug of English tea, the guests all met up at majestic Armathwaite Hall. Situated on the banks of Bassenthwaite Lake, Armathwaite was the perfect setting for lunch and to chat about the morning’s drive.

After lunch, Kirkstone Pass and The Struggle awaited on leg two of the scenic drive. The two stunning roads proved to be a big highlight for the guests as they made their way back to the Langdale Hotel & Spa.

In the afternoon all guests met for a short hike around the hotel and gathered outside for Pimms, a spot of archery and a small competition. John Chacksfield proved to be the ‚Robin Hood’ of the day and walked away with a BMW i trophy. To complete the afternoon a local falconer stopped by with a group of owls, falcons and eagles to give the guests an impressive demonstration.

Dinner ended the day back at the hotel. Excited by the events of the day, the beautiful roads and new acquaintances, the guests talked deep into the night. Plans were already being made to join upcoming events.
