REVIEW. WINDING THROUGH WALES.

WALES, UNITED KINGDOM.

On a sunny weekend in early September, BMW i Pure Impulse members gathered in Powys in eastern Wales for a remarkable BMW i Pure Impulse Scenic Drive. They enjoyed the pleasure of their first – purely coincidental – highlight when they arrived at the comfortable Lake Country House Hotel and Spa: the weather was at its best, and it stayed that way until their departure. The road book was distributed during a wonderful dinner. The following morning, the participants departed in their own BMW i8 vehicles, full of anticipation for this exciting road trip.

A convoy of 29 cars travelled through the wild and romantic Welsh countryside with its ancient forests and bogs. The adventurous route took them along narrow roads, past sheep, over rivers, stone bridges and hills. Just before lunch and towards the end of the first leg of the journey, the BMW i Pure Impulse drivers left their cars to see one of the highlights of the drive. Like travellers have done for centuries, they walked over part of the spectacular Devil’s Bridge, from where a 295-foot waterfall plunges into a gorge.

Refreshed after a delicious lunch, the BMW i Pure Impulse members made their way in convoy to the next highlight. They drove to the famous Elan Valley in North Wales, which is renowned for its dams and lakes from the times of the industrial revolution. Some participants walked to one of the reservoirs, while the rest enjoyed the magnificent panorama over a cup of coffee. The return journey took the group through the picturesque old town of Rhayader.

Back in the hotel, the afternoon sun drew the BMW i Pure Impulse members outside for an opportunity to go on a walk to explore the delightful surroundings or to take in some fresh air in the hotel gardens. A farewell dinner rounded off this drive through Wales, which some hailed as the best Scenic Drive ever.
