The traditional White Turf races on the frozen St. Moritz lake have been held since 1907, but BMW i Pure Impulse members got to experience the event in a new light, with an exciting three-day programme built around Sunday’s racing spectacle.

On Friday evening, BMW i Pure Impulse members gathered in the lobby of the five-star Kulm Hotel in St. Moritz for an aperitif, where they were welcomed by Marc Gobeli from BMW Switzerland. A gourmet dinner was then served at “the K” restaurant at the hotel.

Sunny skies the next morning allowed guests to make the trip to Davos for the much-anticipated winter driving experience via helicopter. After a breathtaking flight over the snowy Alps, the excited guests landed at Flüelapass. There, a mixed fleet of BMW vehicles, including several BMW i8s, which had been brought to Switzerland specifically for this weekend, already waited to take the drivers on an exhilarating ride.

The stretch of mountain where the training was held had been opened up for the driving experience only; it is usually closed in winter. For the next several hours, three attentive and encouraging trainers taught participants the art of manoeuvring the cars on the snow and ice-covered surfaces.

The ride on the Glacier Express back to the hotel with champagne and canapés provided a welcome break to relax before guests enjoyed a traditional Swiss fondue dinner, complete with Glühwein and bonfire to keep warm. As one of the guests celebrated a special birthday that day, the group honoured him with a heartfelt rendition of “Happy Birthday” and a BMW i-branded Sacher cake.

On Sunday, the group spent an exciting day at the BMW VIP marquee at the races, set up on the lake to ensure not a moment of the action would be missed.
