REVIEW. A WEEKEND OF ‘REAL’ HORSEPOWER.

GOODWOOD, UK.

Racing action viewed from a private box, high-quality hospitality, an elegant setting and a delightful hotel all resulted in a memorable weekend which offered the attending BMW i Pure Impulse members a new experience at a venue famous for both horse racing and motorsport.

The destination for the opening evening was the charming Goodwood Hotel, close to all the weekend’s action, with guests arriving in their BMW i8s and causing quite a stir.

At the welcome reception in the Cedar Garden, the 58 BMW i Pure Impulse members from the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, the USA, Sweden and Belgium were briefed on the upcoming activities, before a lavish BBQ-style dinner – with Pimms, wines and local beers perfectly accompanying the warm weather – was served under the huge canopy at the top of the garden.

Guest reconvened the next morning for a full “day at the races”, dressed in elegant attire in line with the established Goodwood dress code. Private shuttles ferried them to Goodwood Racecourse for the final day of the Qatar Goodwood Festival, which is also often referred to as “Glorious Goodwood”.

Once at the racecourse and in the private boxes reserved for the BMW i Pure Impulse members, guests were offered champagne and a tipster gave them valuable advice on the day’s seven races. A private bookmaker was situated in the middle of the two boxes so guests did not have to venture far to place a small bet if they desired.

The action began and the excitement of the races was interspersed with a top-quality culinary offering, including lunch and afternoon tea, with the guests showing their appreciation by giving the staff a small round of applause at the end of the day.

After a thrilling day, the BMW i8 owners headed back to the hotel, and many of them met up at the two restaurants or in the beer garden to discuss the day’s events as well as when they would see each other again – with some even making the journey back to mainland Europe together after their outstanding weekend at the races.
