Although this was the final event at the birthplace of the BMW i8 this year, there were a number of new faces among the attendees. Seventy guests from Europe, North America and Japan arrived in Leipzig – some for their first ever BMW i Pure Impulse event – to visit the facility where their BMW i8 is produced as well as see the fascinating city that is home to the BMW Plant Leipzig.

They were greeted by the new BMW i3s, placed as a showpiece in the hotel’s lobby. This was not only a surprise for the BMW i Pure Impulse members, but attracted considerable attention from all hotel guests.

Over the course of the two days, the BMW i8 owners had the opportunity to take part in both factory tours and city sightseeing tours. While having access to an up-close view of the plant and production line, guests also heard talks from BMW experts, who explained their innovative work, and had the opportunity to exchange directly with these high-level BMW representatives.

Meanwhile sightseeing tours of Leipzig were on offer, giving guests an insight into this beautiful city. They could choose from a historic city tour, a musical city tour – including a visit to the St Thomas Church – and a tour of the upcoming area of Plagwitz, which is home to the Baumwollspinnerei, a former cotton factory turned art hub.

Both the Thursday and Friday evening events offered impressive locations, excellent cuisine and a chance for the BMW i Pure Impulse members to meet and mingle. The two-Michelin-starred Falco restaurant was the setting for Thursday night, its 27th-floor perch offering stunning views of the city. Several high-ranking BMW guests were also in attendance.

Friday evening’s gala dinner saw guests relocate to Kunstkraftwerk, a hip former industrial site in the west of the city. Visual entertainment was provided by a stunning 3D, 360-degree immersion art project shown during the cocktail reception, as well as a new BMW i Pure Impulse ‘best of scenic drives’ movie before the first course.

A surprise was in store for one guest after the first course, as he was handed back the keys to his car which had experienced a problem early that day. After the second course, it was the turn of renowned British motivational speaker Jim Lawless to impress the guests. He delivered an inspirational speech on how to overcome fears and accomplish personal goals.

As the event continued late into the night, guests spilled onto the dance floor or relaxed in the chill-out room. And as the last attendees made their way into the Leipzig night, this brought a close to the final evening of this year’s event series at the birthplace of the BMW i8.

This was the last event of the special BMW i Pure Impulse event series for 2017 at the birthplace of the BMW i8.
