Meet Sir Tim Smit, co-founder of the record-breaking biome complex known as the Eden Project – the most visited man-made environmental attraction in the world. During this evening event, he will give you first-hand insights into the astounding organisation itself, its past and future.

Located in Cornwall, in the far south-west of the UK, on the site of what was once a derelict china clay pit, the Eden Project is a flourishing social enterprise, visitor attraction and charity that draws in more than a million people each year. It is made up of wonderful gardens and two giant biome conservatories: one, at 57 metres high, is home to the largest, full-height indoor rainforest in the world; the other stands 33 metres tall and houses a Mediterranean climate zone. Both structures are set within an outdoor temperate landscape of great beauty. Eden Project regularly becomes an event site, with major celebrities such as Elton John, Muse and Oasis performing in its outdoor arena – which is known for having some of the finest natural acoustics.

Visitors come here to understand environmental matters – how we, as humans, fit into the bigger picture and the responsibility we carry. ‘Eden’s mission is to explore our dependence on the natural world, to use that understanding to excite people into delivering transformation where they live and to ask really serious questions about what a great future might look like for all of us,’ explains Smit.

As part of this evening Smit – who has a very diverse background in archaeology, anthropology and music production/composition – will take you on an educational and inspiring journey ‘through’ Eden. He will also introduce you to future concepts and the world of Eden Project International, which aims to have an Eden Project on every inhabited continent by 2025.
