REVIEW. ELECTRIC ATMOSPHERE IN ROME.
All roads led to Rome in April as the inaugural ePrix in the Italian capital offered BMW i Pure Impulse members motorsport insider glimpses paired with exclusive hospitality in the Eternal City.
The action got underway on Friday evening after guests had arrived at the bar of ‘rough-luxe’ contemporary design hotel G-Rough, where a number of couples had also chosen to stay overnight.
The welcome reception held a special surprise in store for the 30 attendees from Germany, Netherlands and the UK. Roger Griffith, team principal of MS & AD Andretti – the Formula E team with whom BMW is currently a partner – and driver Antonio Felix da Costa joined the function and offered insights into the race series in general and an outlook to next season, including BMW entering as a works team and the development of more powerful cars with a longer battery range.
The next day saw the BMW i Pure Impulse members head to the Emotion Club, the Formula E VIP hospitality area, at the impressive location of the Museo delle Arti e Tradizioni Popolari in Rome’s EUR quarter. Here they enjoyed a full-day of racing, premium hospitality, entertainment and the best views of the track.
While at the Emotion Club, guests were able to watch the race on big screens from the reserved BMW i area, as well as enjoying the sunshine in the garden outside. They were also taken on pit lane walks, where another surprise waited in the form of a specially arranged garage tour at team MS & AD Andretti – an exciting insight for the motorsport fans and a real highlight of a thrilling weekend of racing in Rome.
