REVIEW. ONE NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM: HELLO, ROBOT.

GENT, BELGIUM.

From the original Star Wars R2D2 to production line workers and the almost ubiquitous smartphone, robots in different guises awaited the BMW i Pure Impulse members who had braved freezing February weather to visit the Design Museum Gent.

Before their private tour of the ‘Hello Robot. Design Between Human and Machine’ exhibition, 35 guests from the Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, Germany, Switzerland and the UK were greeted by curator Fredo de Smet, who gave them an introductory speech on robotics and explored the attendees’ personal interaction with robots.

Following this introduction – accompanied by welcome drinks and snacks – one group of guests were taken on a highly interesting tour of the exhibition, led by a guide passionate about the topic, while the other group attended a workshop where they pre-programmed a small robot to paint a picture.

After both groups had had the opportunity to complete these activities, they reconvened at the Greenhouse, the evening’s dinner location in the museum’s courtyard. In this special setting, they enjoyed a tasty meal, spending the evening discussing their cultural experience and creating connections with their fellow BMW i Pure Impulse members.
